Maysville Continues Playoff March
< < Back to maysville-continues-playoff-march
It was a cool but calm night at Panther field as the Sheridan Generals marched into Panther territory. Maysville was able to defeat the Sheridan Generals for the first time since 1984 with a 34-14 win over the Generals.
The Maysville offense got started early on a quick on a 44-yard run by Jordan Hayes who got them deep into General territory. Later in that very same drive on fourth down, Maysville decides to send out the offense and is rewarded with a touchdown scamper by Eli Chambers, who took it 23 yards into the end zone. The offensive explosion continued into the second quarter on a 14-yard touchdown run by C.J. Harris giving the Panthers a 14-0 lead.
Maysville’s rushing attack combined for 258 yards on 48 carries and gave the Generals defense problems all night.
The Sheridan offense looked for an outbreak of their own after being held scoreless in their past two games. Their rushing game lived up to expectations with 39 carries for 207 yards averaging over five yards per carry. Chase Heath carried the rock for two touchdowns on top of his teams 207 yards but it wasn’t enough for the Generals.
Both teams had 17 first downs each but the Panthers made those first downs count the most as they took this one 34-14.
Sheridan is now 4-4 and is hoping to stay above .500 by potentially pulling the upset next week against a Tri-Valley squad that is undefeated this year.
Maysville is now 7-1 on the year and is looking to keep going strong as they take on a tough Philo team in a game that has playoff implications in the MVL.
