Power Outages Reported In SE Ohio

Customers in Lawrence County, Ohio have experienced the slowest progress in repairs efforts.
More than 1,500 customers are still without electricity.

UPDATE 10:36 A.M. More than 2,000 customers in Lawrence County, Ohio are without power Tuesday morning after an unprecendented superstorm slammed into the East Coast.
Three other Southeast Ohio counties within American Electric Power's region are reporting outages at this time.
Pike County has 1,663 customers without power.

A high wind advisory remains in effect in the region until 5 p.m. Tuesday evening.

UPDATE 8:07 A.M. Power is being restored to Southeast Ohioans left in the dark after a night of strong winds and constant rainfall brought on by Hurricane Sandy.
Six Southeast Ohio counties within American Electric Power’s region are reporting outages at this time.
Washington County continues to bear the brunt of the outages with more than 475 customers without electricity.

Central Ohio's Franklin County has just a little more than 110 customers experiencing outages.
In northeast Ohio, FirstEnergy was reporting more than 247,000 customers without power, mostly in the Cleveland area, before dawn Tuesday. The utility also reported other scattered outages across the northern section of the state and down into central Ohio.
High wind warnings are still in effect in much of central and eastern Ohio for much of Tuesday.

UPDATE 6:00 A.M. Following a night of strong winds and heavy rainfall, a handful of Southeast Ohio power customers are waking up in the dark.
Seven counties in the region are experiencing outages, according to American Electric Power's online outage map.
Fairfield County has the most outages with 500 customers reporting issues.
Washington County follows close behind with a reported 470 customers without electricity.

Central Ohio's Franklin County reported the most outages in the state, with more than 1,300 customers without power.
A wind advisory from the National Weather Service continues for much of Southeast Ohio and Western West Virginia through 5 p.m. Tuesday. Wind gusts up to 50 mph are possible.
Forecasters are predicting a mix of rain and snow throughout the following days as the effects of Hurricane Sandy pass through the region.
UPDATE 8:30 P.M. Updated outage numbers from American Electric Power show more than 1,400 Southeast Ohio customers are in the dark in the midst of severe weather Monday night.
More than 115 Athens County customers do not have electricity; in Vinton County numbers top 670. Washington County continues to report more than 670 customers in the dark there as well.
Central Ohio represents the greatest number of power customers dealing with outages: Franklin County reports more than 6,600 customers without electricity there.
No word from AEP on estimated restoration times.
More than 660 American Electric Power customers in Washington County are without electricity following a day of increasing wind and stormy weather stemming from the East Coast onslaught of Hurricane Sandy.
The company's outage map shows Washington County, Noble County, with 108 customers lacking power, and Scioto County, with 243 powerless customers, as the only Southeast Ohio counties suffering from outages at this time.
Much of the region is under a wind advisory until Tuesday evening, as National Weather Service forecasters are predicting severe weather, including winds gusting up to 55 mph.
Snow is in the forecast for Tuesday in the early morning hours, though little to no accumulation is expected.
