Sheriff: Drug Take-Back Box Works In Lawrence Co.

Five days after installing it, a new drug take-back box in Lawrence County seems to be working very well.
The Sheriff’s Office placed a drug take-drug in the lobby for people to drop down their old prescription medication.
Sheriff Jeff Lawless says he is glad to see its progress.
"It has been in place since Thursday. We had opened the box this morning to take a look. We got several items in the box today. We are very pleased with how it is going so far," says Lawless.
Lawless also encourages everyone to take advantage of the box.
"All you have to do is coming into our lobby, walk up to the box, it is like an old mail box you used to see on the street concerns, pull the door open, put the medicine with the door back closed. The medicine is dropped down in a secure area. We will dispose it in later days," says Lawrence.
Lawless says it is a useful tool to keep medicine from ending up on the street and in the hands in the drug addicts.
