On the eve of the Mid-American Conference tournament, Ohio sophomore Kelly Lamberti became the eighth Bobcat to win the MAC Vollyball Player of the Year award.

"It means a lot and it is so exciting," Lamberti said of winning the award. "But I couldn't have gotten the award without being surrounded by a team full of amazing volleyball players who push me everyday in practice."

Lamberti helped lead Ohio to a regular season conference title and was second in the league in kills per set with 4.05. She led the 'Cats in conference play with 232 kills and was second on the team in digs with 3.41 per set. The sophomore also won three MAC East Player of the Week Awards on the season.

Lamberti is Ohio's eighth MAC Player of the Year, tying Western Michigan for the most awards in MAC history.

Lamberti was also named to the All-MAC First team, joined by teammates Chelsea Bilger and Meredith Ashy. Bilger powered Ohio's offense all season, forming a fearsome duo outside hitters with Lamberti. Also a sophomore, Bilger finished the season second on the team in kills and ninth in the conference with an average of 3.33 per set. Ashy's 4.98 digs per set placed her third in the MAC. She is the only freshman on the All-MAC First team.

Senior Faith Robins and sophomore Serena Warner were named to All-MAC Second team and Abby Gilleland joined Ashy on the All-Freshman squad.

"Having numerous people making the list just shows how hard working our team is and how much we push each other to be the best we can be," Lamberti said.
