Lamberti Named MAC East Defensive POW

Senior outside hitter Kelly Lamberti led Ohio (13-4, 6-0 MAC) to back-to-back victories over Mid-American Conference East Division rivals to earn herself the title of MAC East Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 13.

The Bobcats remained unbeaten in league play after defeating Miami University on Friday and then Bowling Green University on Saturday, increasing their win-streak to seven games. Lamberti put together a solid overall effort for the ‘Cats over two matches, coming in second on the team in both kills (32) and digs (39). She led Ohio with five service aces and contributed five total blocks in her efforts.

The Cary, Ill. native recorded 18 kills and a career-high 26 digs alone in Friday’s come-from-behind victory against the RedHawks. In the sweep of BGSU, Lamberti posted match-high 14 kills and 13 digs.

Lamberti achieved back-to-back double-doubles, bringing her season total to eight and her career total to 57.

In MAC play, Lamberti leads the Bobcats with 75 kills. She is tied for the top spot on the team with nine service aces, and she ranks second on the team with 77 digs.

She has recorded 15 matches with double-digit kills and nine matches with double-digit digs in 2014.
