Lady Buckeyes Eye TVC-Ohio Crown
< < Back to lady-buckeyes-eye-tvc-ohio-crownNelsonville-York is shooting for the stars and the TVC-Ohio title this season. The Lady Buckeyes are determined to rebound from a disappointing and premature ending to their 2011-2012 season. Nelsonville-York is one to watch out for with offseason improvements and a new addition to the team.
“These girls are ready and are ready to make a run at the tournament,” head coach Amanda Dalton said.
The Lady Buckeyes are an experienced, yet relatively young team, with only two seniors. There are four juniors, one sophomore, and one freshman completing the roster. Last year, sophomore Angela Meade averaged 9.6 points a game, leading the team in scoring. Meade is coming off a head injury that cost her an appearance in the Lady Buckeyes’ playoff game against Ironton. She is eager to return to the court.
“I need to know my role and give it all I have,” said Meade.
Junior Shelby True was also an impact on both sides of the ball, averaging 8.6 points a game and 8.8 rebounds per game. Between True and Madison Davis in the post, who averaged 9.6 points a game and 7.7 rebounds per game a season ago, the frontcourt will be dominant for Nelsonville-York.
One game the team has marked on their calendars is the December 8 matchup with the Wellston Golden Rockets, one of their rivals. True and Meade are very excited for this game, as well as Coach Dalton.
On Monday, November 26, the Lady Buckeyes begin their journey against the Sheridan Generals at home. This game will spotlight what the Lady Bucks have worked on in the offseason to help lead them to one thing, as Meade said, “I’m ready to win.”
