Trimble head coach Curt Moore must have given the his team quite the halftime speech as the Tomcats exploded to outscored the Alexander Spartans in the second half 36-22, propelling Trimble to a 65-51 win.

Trimble’s full court press caused problems for the Alexander Spartans all night as they forced 26 Spartan turnovers.

Both teams shot relatively well from the floor as Trimble’s Jacob Koons led both teams in scoring on the night with 17 points. He was followed up with an offensive performance from his teammate Cody Bragg who had 13 points and six rebounds.

Alexander freshman Seth Richardson led the Spartans in scoring with 11 points and six rebounds. Jordan Moseley, one of Alexander’s premier players, put up nine points, recovered four rebounds, and dished out four assists.

The senior leadership of Braden Jones was greatly missed tonight by a young Alexander team. “He will be back for Tuesday night, which changes the complexity of everything,” Alexander head coach Blaine Gabriel said. “He probably scores 20 points per game.”

Coach Gabriel looks to take away the positives from the loss as he expects his team to grow from here on out.

Trimble, on the other hand, was very excited to start this year with a win. Quite similar to Coach Gabriel, Coach Moore expects the Tomcats to only improve throughout the rest of this season. They are led by a lot of young talent and hope to be more competitive in the TVC-Hocking.
