A Washington County man connected to the January stabbing and beating of an 82-year-old Coolville woman is going to prison for almost ten years.

Christopher Fleming, 21, of Belpre changed his plea of not guilty to guilty Tuesday at the Athens County Courthouse, and was sentenced to nine years and nine months in prison. He will be eligible for parole after serving five years of his sentence.

Fleming was originally charged with two counts each of aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary, felonious assault and kidnapping. He was also charged with one count each of attempted murder, abduction, tampering with evidence, theft from an elderly person or disabled adult, theft of drugs and theft.

He pleaded guilty to all charges except attempted murder, which was dropped on Tuesday.

Athens County Sheriff Pat Kelly said that on January 24, Fleming and three others kicked in 82-year-old Ota Vincent's front door, beat her severely, stabbed her in the neck and stole items from her home.

Vincent spent months rehabilitating in the hospital from her injuries.
