Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin presented nearly $825,000 in Federal Highway Administration funds Monday for projects in Barbour, Greenbrier, Kanawha and Wood counties.
The program is aimed at improving the safety of children as they walk or ride bicycles to school.
Projects include upgrading school crossing systems, making safer access to a school's walking path and playground equipment, and improving or establishing school-area sidewalks in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
