The Alexander Lady Spartans traveled to Wellston to take on the Lady Rockets Thursday night. The Lady Rockets led the game the entire night and ended it with a 57-46 victory. Both teams struggled to make buckets as Alexander was 18-51 from the field shooting only 35%. The Lady Rockets also made 18 field goals, but that was out of 46 attempts which is just over 39%. Both teams relied heavily on the three balls combining for 33 attempts from beyond the arc.

Jordan Davis led the way for the Lady Rockets as she finished with 12 points on the night. Ten of those points came from the charity strike as she drew fouls down low all game. Davis ran the point throughout the game dishing out seven assists. On top of that, she was also able to make a presence down low pulling down eight rebounds. Taelor Folden wasn’t far behind with 11 points of her own and six boards. Folden hit three huge shots from downtown, sealing the game late in the fourth quarter. The Lady Rockets scored 24 of their 57 points from those threes as they shot eight of 20 from beyond the arch.

The Alexander Lady Spartans struggled all night shooting the ball. Coach Hinton really stressed the importance of making key shots and coming into games expecting to win. Even with the shooting struggles, Allyson Malone was still able to score 16 points. She was accompanied by Kendall Meeks who added 15 tallies of her own. She also was able to snag nine rebounds being one short of a double-double.

The Lady Spartans are now 2-7 in the TVC-Ohio with two league games left to play.

Alexander will look to get the upset in The Alley over the Athens Lady Bulldogs on Thursday, February 7.
