Working Families Can Get Free Tax Help This Weekend
< < Back to working-families-can-get-free-tax-help-weekendA program geared at providing free tax filing for working families will hold its first weekend event on Saturday.
According to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) "Free My Refund Day" is part of a statewide effort to provide people the chance to file their taxes for free without having to miss work.
Families with an income less than $60,000 can meet with trained tax preparation counselors for help filing their tax returns.
"Not only does this program serve to access free tax preparation, but it also allows people to be aware of other programs they qualify for," ODJFS Director Michael Colbert said.
"My Refund Day" is offered through the Ohio Benefit Bank, a program of the Ohio Association of Foodbanks.
"Our goal is to put more federal money into the the pockets our neighbors and friends to help them put food on the table, pay bills, build their savings and grow the local economy," Lisa Hamler-Fugitt, executive director of the Ohio Association of Foodbanks said.
