According the Athens County Sheriff, Charles Dearth, 29, told deputies he was at his girlfriend's house in Glouster when they got into a argument Saturday.
Dearth said that he attempted to use the phone when his girlfriend's pit bull attacked him.
Dearth said that the dog kept attacking him so he stabbed the pit bull three times with his knife. He suffered injuries to his hand, arm, and stomach.
But deputies later learned that Dearth broke into his girlfriend's home the night before and stabbed the pit bull while it was in submission. Deputies said Dearth posted on Facebook he intended to hurt the dog.
