U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin is hosting a summit to discuss preventing and preparing for school violence.

Wednesday's summit will take place at the state Culture Center in Charleston.

Attendees are expected to hear from Weirton native Lisa Petrovich, who now lives in Newtown, Conn., where she worked at Sandy Hook Elementary School until January 2012. She was close with many of the adults killed during a December mass shooting at the school, including Principal Dawn Hochsprung.

The keynote address will be given by Lt. Col. Dave Grossman, an expert on human aggression and violent crime. Grossman is retired from the U.S. Army and has written three books on the roots of violence, one of which, "On Killing," was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize.
