Antique Mall Possibly Coming To Athens
< < Back to antique-mall-possibly-coming-athensAn antique mall could be opening in Athens this spring.
David West, owner of Athens Paint and Decorating, is organizing the mall.
West said the mall will be located at the current Performance Signs building on Columbus Road.
The Performance Signs business is relocating.
The mall would feature individual vendors.
These vendors will pay West for space and commission for selling their merchandise.
West said he wants to open the mall because he wants to do something good for the community.
West added that he thinks Athens needs an antique mall because other places such has Gallipolis and Belpre have them.
"It will be successful because there's a need for it, there's people that's got interest in it," said West. "The highway up around Nelsonville is opening up in the fall and a lot of people travel and look for different places to find antiques."
West said he doesn't plan to open until the space is 70 percent full of vendors.
No opening date has been set.
