Chamber of Commerce Theft
< < Back toThe Cambridge Police Department is investigating a case of theft that left the local Chamber of Commerce thousands of dollars short.
President of the Cambridge Area Chamber of Commerce Jo Sexton reported on Wednesday that six checks totaling more than $4,000 had been cashed without her knowledge.
The Chamber members were notified by employees in the bank's fraud department, who suspected unusual transactions to the account.
The checks were reportedly made out to several different people for several different amounts.
Sexton said the Chamber has taken steps to prevent future fraudulent behavior, and will likely be able to recover their losses.
