Softball: Ohio Gets Shutout By Lipscomb
< < Back to softball-ohio-gets-shutout-lipscombThe Ohio softball team’s two-game winning came to an end Saturday, as the Lipscomb Bison handed the Bobcats their first loss of UTC Frost Classic by a score of 6-0.
The Bison struck first in the second inning after a silent first inning by both teams. Their momentum came off a costly Ohio error. With two outs and a runner on second, Ohio made a throwing error, allowing the Bison to strike first. After a walk, Lipscomb’s Heather Montgomery hit a three-run home run to go up 4-0 after two.
Ohio was unable to recover from the deficit, as Lipscomb’s Heather Parker held the Bobcats to zero runs on six hits. Ohio starting pitcher Lauren McClary lasted two innings, giving up five runs, four of which were earned. Savannah Jo Dorsey finished the game on the mound for Ohio, allowing just one earned run in five innings.
The Bobcats (9-3) will look to jumpstart another winning streak, as they take on Boston College in the second game of a double header later on Saturday, Feb. 23.
