The Ohio Women's Golf team played round one of the MSU Ocala Spring Invitational and sit in 14th place with a team total of 320 strokes.

Junior Kara Brinkmann led not only the Bobcats but the entire field as she shot a round best 69, three under par. She was a stroke under second and seven strokes under her closest teammate, Angela Codian.

Codian finished the round in 24th with a 76. Other 'Cats included Kristen Helmdoerfer, Sarah Tranelli and Julie Lechner who shot 86, 89 and 91, respectively.

Brinkmann's 69 ties for third best in program history and three strokes off the program best 66 recorded in the 2005-2006 season.

Ohio currently sits 27 strokes off the team leader Mercer University. If the Bobcats want to look to improve, they will need some help outside of Brinkmann.

The women return to action Monday with their tee time at 8 a.m.
