A former Gallia Academy Middle School band director will not spend time in jail for sending inappropriate pictures to a student.

Last month, John Seals, 26, pleaded guilty to disseminating matter harmful to juveniles, a fifth-degree felony.

Investigators said they found inappropriate photographs that Seals sent through text to a male student who was under the age of 18.

Tuesday, Seals was sentenced to two years of community control and 500 hours of community service. The
judge then reduced the community service sentence to 60 hours and ordered Seals to get a job.

Seals was also ordered to have no contact with the victim.

At the time of the crime, Seals was a band director for Gallia Academy Middle School.

Seals resigned during the investigation.
