WV Senate Approve Online Voter Registration
< < Back to wv-senate-approve-online-voter-registrationThe West Virginia Senate voted unanimously to allow online voting registration.
Under the bill passed Wednesday, online registration would require the same information of prospective voters as in-person registration currently does. The big difference is that prospective voters would be able to electronically sign their forms, similar to what is done on electronic tax filings.
Where available, local DMVs would have electronic voter registration terminals available for use.
Citizens would still be able to register to vote until the 21st day before an election.
The bill allowing online registration was requested by Secretary of State Natalie Tennant.
The bill will now move to the House of Delegates.
