WV Unemployment Rate Drops Last Month
< < Back to wv-unemployment-rate-drops-last-monthWest Virginia's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell one-tenth of a percentage point in February to 7.3 percent.
WorkForce West Virginia said Tuesday that the number of unemployed state residents decreased by 1,400 to 58,800.
The goods-producing sector saw an employment gain of 1,600, while the service-providing sector gained 1,200 jobs.
Within the goods-producing sector, job increases included 900 in both logging and mining, and in construction.
Within the service-providing sector, among the job gains were 1,000 in government, 600 in educational and health services, and 200 in leisure and hospitality.
Nationally, the unemployment rate fell two-tenths of a percentage point to 7.7 percent in February.
West Virginia's unadjusted unemployment rate also declined two-tenths of a percentage point last month to 8.1 percent.
