Ridges Advisory Group Announced
< < Back to ridges-advisory-group-announcedOhio University President Roderick McDavis says an advisory group will be established regarding developments on The Ridges.
The advisory committee will include representatives from the City of Athens, Athens County and Athens Township.
City officials and President McDavis met Monday to discuss the new group. Attendees include Mayor Paul Wiehl, Athens City Council President Jim Sands, Township Trustee Ted Linscott, Athens County Prosecutor Keller Blackburn, Athens County Commissioner Charlie Adkins, Vice President for Finance and Administration Steve Golding, and John Biancamano and Nicolette Dioguardi from University General Counsel’s office.
President McDavis recognized the university’s responsibility to develop The Ridges as a university and community asset, and stated his intention to work with the representatives and citizens of the area.
The meeting comes after the university demolished the tuberculosis ward at the Ridges earlier this month, a decision that was met with opposition from Athens residents, including the Athens Historical Society.
