The Wood County Board of Education won't renew the contract of a teacher who put a box labeled "bad kid fort" around a special-needs student.

Assistant superintendent Bob Harris tells the Parkersburg News and Sentinel that Parkersburg High School teacher Amanda Terrell wasn't on a list of probationary and continuing contracts approved by the board Tuesday.

Beth Dean and Jeff Richards have said a teacher at the school put a cardboard box around their 15-year-old son's seat because of his behavior in the classroom. The teen has Asperger's syndrome.

Contracts also won't be offered to Jesse Young, another Parkersburg High teacher who was involved in a Harlem Shake video showing students dancing inappropriately, and a third teacher who wasn't identified.
