Accurso Earns Second Weekly Conference Honor in Three Weeks

Ohio track athlete Juli Accurso was named Mid-American Conference Track Athlete of the Week, annoucned by the conference on Tuesaday. The award is the junior's second award in three weeks. 

It is the Casstown, Ohio native's third award of her career. 

Friday in her most recent race, Accurso finished 20th in the Section 1 of the 10,000m run at the Standford Invitational. She crossed the finish line in 33:52.33, just two seconds shy of the Ohio school record. Her performance increased her chances of a earning a first round berth to the NCAA championships in the event. 

In the early goings of the 2013 outdoor season, Accurso has already broke the school record in the 5,000m run at the Wake Forest open with a time of 16:21.56. Her time was 46 seconds faster than the next closest finisher. This time should also qualify her for a NCAA berth later this spring. 

The Bobcats host their first home event Saturday April 6 with the Ohio Team Challenge and Distance Open.
