ODOT Installing New Traffic Lights On State Route 7 In Belmont County
< < Back to odot-installing-new-traffic-lights-state-route-7-belmont-countyThe Ohio Department of Transportation will be installing new traffic signals at two intersections on State Route 7 in Belmont County.
Work is scheduled to start next week.
ODOT says the intersections at Hanover and Aetna streets in Martins Ferry were on the state's high accident list in 2007.
Crews will be adding signals with left-turn only green lights for both north and southbound lanes at the two intersections.
ODOT's Becky Giauque says too many left turn crashes are happening at those intersections.
“It seems at both of those two intersections the biggest causes of the accidents is people traveling northbound wanting to turn left and having trouble judging the traveling speed of southbound traffic, Giauque said. “We are going to fix that by adding the left-turn only protected phase.”
Work is expected to be completed Memorial Day weekend.
