14 Die On Ohio Roads Over Holiday Weekend
< < Back to 14-die-ohio-roads-over-holiday-weekendThe Ohio State High Patrol reports that 14 people lost their lives on the state's roads during the Memorial Day weekend – one more than during the four-day period last year.
However, the patrol says that fatalities related to impaired driving were down to three, from seven in 2012.
Arrests of motorists for suspicion of impaired driving increased nearly 5 percent this year. And the patrol said drug arrests during the period were up 62 percent from last year, with central Ohio troopers reporting the largest number.
The 14 people killed this year compared with the same number who died in 2011, which was one more than in 2010.
The holiday weekend period ran from Friday through Monday.
