US Air Force Vet, Farmer Makes Bid For Congress
< < Back to us-air-force-vet-farmer-makes-bid-congressA pilot and farmer from south of Columbus says he'll try again next year to unseat Republican U.S. Rep. Steve Stivers.
Democrat Scott Wharton, of Amanda, says he's better organized this time to campaign for Ohio's 15th District.
Wharton is a veteran of Desert Storm with 21 years in the U.S. Air Force and 23 years as a commercial pilot. He also owns and operates a family farm outside Amanda.
He says he'll advocate for veterans' rights and farmers if elected.
He'll also tout his lifelong residency in the district and graduation from Amanda Clearcreek High School and Ohio University.
Wharton lost the 2012 Democratic primary to Athens City Law Director Pat Lang.
Stivers, a former state senator and banking lobbyist, beat Lang handily.
