Police Identify Body Found In Water
< < Back to police-identify-body-found-waterUPDATE 3:13 p.m. Investigators have identified the body found floating in the water near Wheelersburg Monday afternoon.
The Scioto County Sheriff's Office says Jennifer Shepard, 34, was found floating in Pine Creek off the Ohio River.
Shepard was last seen in Portsmouth by a friend around 10:15 Saturday evening. Sheriff Marty Donini says Shepard was seen in the area of Murray's pub and the Fast Stop convenience store.
Shepard was identified from fingerprints and tattoos.
An autopsy is being done to figure out how she died.

A body was found floating in the water near Wheelersburg Monday.
The Scioto County Sheriff’s Office says it responded to a call around 3 p.m. about a floating body in Pine Creek off the Ohio River.
The call came from the Ohio State Highway Patrol saying a trooper had pulled over on US Highway 52 near St. Rt. 522 to assist two subjects who had broken down on the side of the road. They then spotted the body upon arrival.
Deputies and detectives responded to the location, with the assistance of ODNR Watercraft officers, Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Porter Township Fire Department they removed the body from the water and transported it to the Montgomery County Morgue for an autopsy.
The female is described as close to 5 foot and 8 inches, weighing around 130 pounds with blonde, shoulder-length hair. The female appears to be in the age range of 40 to 50-years-old with tattoos.
Police say this is not the body of the missing female Megan Lancaster from Portsmouth, OH.
The Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini is asking anybody with any information on the identity of the female or any information on the case to contact the Sheriff’s office.
