Abortion Rights Groups to Protest Ohio Measure

The Ohio Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice, which supports abortion, scheduled a rally Thursday ahead of votes planned in the Ohio House and Senate on Ohio’s $62 billion, two-year state operating budget.
Advocates oppose an 11th hour budget amendment that would require Ohio abortion providers to inform pregnant women seeking the procedure if a fetal heartbeat is present. They also oppose the budget’s effective defunding of Planned Parenthood, whose health care offerings to low-income patients can include abortions.
Created Equal, a group opposing abortion, has scheduled a counter-rally to protest Planned Parenthood.
Republican Ohio Gov. John Kasich opposes abortion but has not said what budget vetoes he plans.
