Severe Weather Leaves Thousands Without Power

UPDATE 8:30 p.m. Thousands are without power as a line of strong thunderstorms moved through the region Friday evening
In Athens County 1,335 customer were without electricity according to AEP Ohio's outage map. Other power outage reports include:
Hocking: 362
Ross: 196
Perry: 2,664
Pike: 1,403
Scioto: 150
Harrison: 385
Jefferson: 1,171
Washington: 874
Ohio: 294
Wayne (WV): 204

The NWS has issued a flash flood warning for Gallia County until 11 p.m. Friday. Monroe Couny is under a flood warning until 9:45 p.m.

Belmont and Guernsey counties are under a severe thunderstorm warning until 5:45 p.m. Friday. Monroe and Noble counties are under a flash flood warning until 8 p.m.

UPDATE 4:46 p.m. The National Weather Service says severe thunderstorms will affect portions of the region Friday afternoon.
According to a special weather statement strong thunderstorms bring with the possibility of wind gusts of up to 50 mph and nickel size hail. The NWS says the storms will bring heavy rain causing water to pond on roadways and quickly fill roadside ditches and small streams. Intense lightning is also expected from the line of storms.
The NWS advises people to seek shelter indoors.
Harrison, Tuscarawas and Muskingum counties are under a severe thunderstorm warning until 5 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Licking County until 4 p.m. Friday.
According to the NWS a severe thunderstorm was located near Heath moving east at 20 mph.
Storm hazards include winds up to 60 mph and frequent cloud to ground lightning.
