Bobcats Picked To Win MAC East
< < Back to bobcats-picked-win-mac-eastThe Mid-American Conference announced its preseason poll Tuesday morning, and for the second consecutive season the Ohio Bobcats were selected to win the East Division. The poll, determined by members of the media, was announced at the 2013 MAC Football Media Day at Ford Field in Detroit, Mich..
Ohio Football received 15 first-place votes, and 164 total points en route to becoming the favorite to win the East Division. Bowling Green came in second in the East with eight first-place votes, and 154 total points.
2012 MAC Champion Northern Illinois was picked to win the MAC West, and repeat as MAC Champions in 2013.
Last season the ‘Cats started off 7-0 and looked poised to win the MAC East before a series of injuries and late season losses saw them slip to third in the final standings. The team finished strong however, beating Louisiana-Monroe 45-14 in the AdvoCare V100 Independence Bowl.
Ohio returns 16 starters from last season’s team, including redshirt senior quarterback Tyler Tettleton and redshirt senior running back Beau Blankenship. The Bobcats also get cornerback Travis Carrie back after missing the entire 2012 season due to a shoulder injury.
Ohio opens its season on the road at Louisville on Sept. 1, 2013 at 3:30 p.m., on ESPN.
