The Cabell-Huntington Health Departments says the West Nile virus has been detected in mosquitoes in Barboursville.

Environmental health director Stan Mills tells The Herald-Dispatch that a pool of mosquitoes around a lake in Barboursville tested positive for the virus. He expects additional testing to find more infected mosquitoes in the coming weeks.

Health department director Dr. Harry Tweel says the mosquito-borne disease's symptoms can include fever, headache, body aches, joint pains, vomiting, diarrhea or a body rash.

Earlier this month, mosquitoes infected with West Nile were detected in the Mid-Ohio Valley.

No human cases have been reported in West Virginia.
