Ohio soccer midfielder Maggie Murnane was named to the CollegeSportsMadness.com Preseason Mid-American Conference Second Team on Monday, according to OhioBobcats.com.

Murnane, who transferred to Ohio last season from Dayton, played a vital role on last year’s team, starting all 19 games and scoring two goals.  The senior recorded two assists in her first season as a Bobcat and also had the game-winning goal against Youngstown State.

She earned this accolade with three other MAC midfielders, as Western Michigan’s Rachel Chaney, Central Michigan’s Kaely Schlosser, and Ball State’s Maimee Morris all earned Second Team selections.

Murnane plays her first game under new head coach Aaron Rodgers in an exhibition match against UNC-Greensboro on Aug. 15 at 1 p.m. The Bobcats’ first official match will be Aug. 23 against Indiana.
