Theis Adds Geneva Yee To 2013 Roster
< < Back toOhio Volleyball coach Ryan Theis has added defensive specialist Geneva Yee to the 2013 roster.
Yee, a five-foot-five freshman defensive specialist comes to Ohio from Milwaukee, Wisc., where she played four years for Pius XI High School.
At Pius XI, Yee was a three-time all-conference libero and earned all-state recognition her junior and senior seasons. She led Pius XI to three consecutive sectional semifinals and was named the 2012 Woodland Conference Player of the Year.
The addition of Yee comes on the heels of Carley Jones' transfer to Northern Kentucky. As a freshman in 2012, Jones played in all 31 games for the Bobcats and ranked fifth on the team with 143 digs.
Yee will take Jones' place as a fifth defensive specialist on the team, joining returning sophomore and First Team All-MAC libero Meredith Ashy, senior Mollie Geske and fellow newcomers Brooke Coleman and Mallory Salis, who may also see time at setter and outside hitter, respectively.
Yee is one of six newcomers on the Bobacats' roster this season, along with Coleman (Plano, Texas), Salis (Oak Lawn, Ill.), graduate student transfer Alexis Pinson (Arizona State University), middle blocker Ali Lake (Liberty Township, Ohio) and outside hitter Katie Horton (Westland, Mich.).
Ohio's annaul Green and White scrimmage is Sunday, Aug. 18 at 2 p.m. After that, the Bobcats open their season Friday, Aug. 30 against Bryant University in the Oregon Classic, hosted by the University of Oregon.
