Police Investigate The Burning Of An Accused Child Abductor’s Home
< < Back to police-investigate-burning-accused-child-abductors-homeA house fire on State Route 776 early Sunday morning has become an ongoing investigation.
According to the State Fire Marshal’s Office, the call for the two story residential structure, located at 6235 State Route 776, came in at 5:29 on the morning of August 11.
The fire appeared to have originated in the kitchen area, but the cause of the blaze has yet to be determined.
State Fire Marshal Public Information Officer Michael Duchesne reported that the State Faire Marshal’s Office is looking for more information on the fire, such as if any one was seen on the property, or if any vehicles may have been observed on or near the property prior to the fire.
Duchesne was also able to confirm that the current resident of the property was Zachary Dunn, who is currently incarcerated and charged with abduction in the Macey Stewart case. County Auditor records state that the property is actually owned by Betty J. White.
It is rumored that the family had moved out of the home while Dunn has been in police custody, however that information was unable to be verified at press time.
The house is said to be a total loss. The Scioto Township Fire Department responded, with the Jackson Fire Department providing mutual aid. It is unknown if other fire departments assisted with the call.
Anyone with information that could help with the investigation is asked to call the Fire and Explosion Investigation Bureau at 1-800-589-2728. Callers can remain anonymous.
