Barton, Southern Roll Over Belpre
< < Back to barton-southern-roll-over-belpreThe Southern Tornadoes were explosive from the start Friday in a 19-0 win over TVC-Hocking foe Belpre.
Right from the start the Southern Tornadoes took care of business with a quarterback keeper from junior Tristen Wolfe for 39 yards. A few plays later, senior running back Tyler Barton ran in for a touchdown.
Barton carried the Tornado offense on his back Friday.
Late in the first quarter, Southern blocked a Belpre punt, setting them up on the 3-yard line, and on the next play after that yet again Barton ran in for another touchdown to put Southern up 12-0.
The Southern offense was explosive through the run game. Barton finished the night rushing 143 yards and three touchdowns, all in the first half.
Southern didn’t just have an explosive night on offense but also on defense. The defense shut down the Golden Eagles’ offense Friday, not allowing it to score. Sophomore quarterback Tavin Miller felt the pressure all night, as Southern sacked him multiple times.
Southern (3-0) will look for its fourth consecutive win next week, as it takes on Federal Hocking (2-1). Belpre (1-2) will try to bounce back from Friday’s loss against Wahama (2-1).
