< < Back to buildings-kent-state-evacuated-after-fireClasses will continue as scheduled at Kent State University after a fire at a power plant forced two campus buildings to be evacuated late Thursday.
Several media outlets report that firefighters responded to an 11 p.m. fire in one of the turbines at the power plant.
A Kent State spokesman says two people were inside the building at the time, but both were unharmed.
Spokesman Eric Mansfield says electricity at the university wasn't interrupted. He says one generator at the plant continues to work and can provide enough power for the campus.
As many as eight fire departments responded to the fire.
The cause of the blaze is being investigated. Streets immediately near the power plant building were closed.
