Ohio CB Bass Earns Conference Honors
< < Back toOhio cornerback Devin Bass earned Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors after his performance in Ohio's win against Marshall.
In the Battle for the Bell, Bass racked up a team-high 11 tackles. His fourth-quarter interception of Marshall quarterback Rakeem Cato sealed Ohio's fate giving the Bobcats the 34-31 victory.The redshirt sophomore now has 16 tackles on the season and leads the team with six passes defended and five pass break-ups. Bass has also been instrumental in Ohio's kickoff return game, averagaing 25.1 yards per return.
Bass becomes the second straight Bobcat to be named Defensive Player of the Week in the MAC. Last week, linebacker Jovon Johnson was given the honor after his pick-six against North Texas.
Bass's effort helped Ohio improve to 2-1 on the season. The 'Cats look to make it three straight on Saturday against FCS opponent Austin Peay. Kickoff from Peden Stadium is slated for 2:00 p.m.
