A Jackson manufacturing plant is scheduled to close its doors over the course of the next several months.

Masco Cabinetry announced on Tuesday that it will be shutting down it’s Jackson manufacturing facility, known as Merillat.

“Masco Cabinetry has continued to evaluate our manufacturing needs, processes and strategy,” said Masco Cabinetry President Rick Roetken. “Deciding to close a facility is never easy, but doing so will allow for greater efficiencies within the Company overall.”

A total of 18 salaried and 168 hourly employees will be impacted by the closure of the facility. Eligible employees will be provided severance benefits and outplacement assistance from Masco Cabinetry. Outplacement resources will be available proactively at the plant and on an as needed basis as it ramps down production.

As the closure timeline progresses, the Company will identify the facilities that will assume Jackson’s production responsibilities and the related process transitions to ensure we continue meeting our customers’ needs. Masco Cabinetry will entertain legitimate offers for the purchase of the facility.

The Jackson facility, built in 1976, was originally established to produce solid oak front frames. Masco Cabinetry, now is a manufacturer of the KraftMaid®, Merillat®, QualityCabinets® and DeNova® brands.
