Ohio Grand Jury To Consider Alleged Baby Rape Case
< < Back to ohio-grand-jury-consider-alleged-baby-rape-caseA grand jury will consider the case against a northern Ohio daycare worker suspected of raping a baby.
Heather Koon of Elyria waived a preliminary hearing Tuesday in municipal court, and her case will go to a county grand jury. The 25-year-old has pleaded not guilty to rape and denied the allegation.
Her attorney, Dan Wightman, tells The Chronicle-Telegram the preliminary hearing wasn't needed because the case remains under investigation and prosecutors already shared some of the evidence they have.
Authorities say they found video of an assault on Koon's computer while investigating her boyfriend, a registered sex offender. Prosecutors have alleged Koon was acting at her boyfriend's request.
Koon's boyfriend has been charged with complicity to rape. Both he and Koon are being held on multimillion-dollar bonds.
