RedStorm Drop Regular Season Finale 4-1
< < Back to redstorm-drop-regular-season-finale-4-1The Rio Grande RedStorm wrapped up their regular season Saturday afternoon against University of the Cumberlands. The RedStorm (9-8, 4-4) lost 4-1 to the Patriots.
Ultimately, the game was controlled from the outset by Patriots, Kim Robinson and Victoria Paynter.
Early in the first half, two goals were shot back-to-back by the Patriots. Paynter found an opening at the 34-minute mark and Robinson netted a goal shortly after in the 36th. After four missed shots from the RedStorm, Kasey Crow fed Hannah Brindle the ball to make it 2-1 before the first half ended. Rio goalkeeper, Allison Keeney, tallied up six saves before intermission.
Robinson and Paynter continued to dominate into the second half. Robinson’s second goal was shot at the 24:56 mark and after two yellow cards from the RedStorm and Patriots, Paynter scored off an assist by Amerah Dixon to make it 4-1.
The Mid-South Conference Tournament begins on Nov. 9.
