Marietta Defeats Otterbein, Snaps Losing Streak
< < Back toThe Marietta Pioneers picked up their fourth win of the season Wednesday, as they defeated the Otterbein Cardinals (8-9, 3-5), 4-2.
The win snapped a 3-game losing streak for the Pioneers, and it was also the first win for them since Sept. 21.
Wesley Riley put the Pioneers (4-12-1, 1-6-1) on top, 1-0, when he scored in the first minute of the game. Riley then scored his second goal of the game and 11th of the season in the 15th minute to extend Marietta’s lead to 2-0.
Michael Nauls’ second goal of the season came in the 41st minute to give Marietta a comfortable 3-0 lead heading into halftime. Then Marietta added its fourth and final goal of the game in the 60th minute on Miles Alexander’s second goal of the season.
Jared Pulliam had two goals for the Cardinals, but the game had already been decided by the time he found the back of the net.
Chris Stollar had a strong showing in net for Marietta with eight saves on the day.
Marietta will travel to Berea, Ohio, to face Baldwin Wallace (6-10-3, 4-4) Saturday in its final game of the season. Otterbein’s final game of the season also comes on Saturday. The Cardinals will play Capital (8-6-3, 5-3) in Columbus, Ohio.
