UPDATE: Officers Respond to Possible Shooting Reported At LAX

UPDATE 5:30 a.m. A law enforcement official tells The Associated Press that the suspect in the Los Angeles airport shooting is a 23-year-old man from New Jersey who wrote a rant about killing Transportation Safety Administration workers.
A law enforcement official, who was briefed at LAX on the investigation but not authorized to speak publicly, said the gunman was wearing fatigues and carrying a bag containing a hand-written note that said he “wanted to kill TSA and pigs.” The official requested anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly.
The official identified him as Paul Ciancia. A second law enforcement official confirmed the identity, speaking on condition of anonymity.
Authorities say the suspect killed a TSA employee in the shooting.
UPDATE: 3:46 p.m.: A gunman armed with a semi-automatic rifle opened fire at the Los Angeles International Airport, killing a Transportation Security Administration employee and wounding two other people.
Tim Kauffman, a spokesman for the American Federation of Government Employees in Washington, confirmed Friday that a TSA officer was killed.
He says the union’s information comes from their local officials in Los Angeles.
The attack frightened passengers and disrupted flights nationwide.
Police said the unidentified suspect, who was apparently injured following an exchange of gunfire with officers, was in custody.

UPDATE: 1:15 p.m.: Police and paramedics surrounded a terminal on Friday at Los Angeles International Airport because of a reported shooting.
Witness Brian Keech said he heard “about a dozen gunshots” from inside the security gate at Terminal 3.
Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey said emergency crews have responded to a multi-patient incident.
The incident was reported after 9:30 a.m.
There was no immediate word of any injuries, but television images showed two people being wheeled away by firefighters. Triage stations also were seen.
