Five members of the Ohio volleyball team received All-Mid-American Conference honors on Thursday, headlined by sophomore Abby Gilleland who received the 2013 MAC Player of the Year award.

Along with receiving MAC Setter of the Year honors and named to the All-MAC First Team, Gilleland is the eighth MAC Player of the Year in school history and the second straight for the Bobcats.

Joining Gilleland on the All-MAC First Team is middle blocker Alexis Pinson, outside hitter Kelly Lamberti, and middle blocker Karin Bull. Ohio has not featured four athletes on the All-MAC First Team since the 2009 season. Lamberti is the only Bobcat that has already received All-MAC honors in her career, as Pinson and Bull achieve the award for the first time ever.

Freshman outside hitter Katie Horton also received conference honors, as she was named to the All-MAC Freshman team. Horton is one of just five conference freshmen selected for the accolade.

The No. 1-seeded Bobcats begin MAC Tournament play this Friday at noon as they square off with the No. 8-seeded Kent State Golden Flashes in Geneva, Ohio.
