Undefeated Lady Buckeyes Roll To A 54-34 Win Over Meigs
< < Back to undefeated-lady-buckeyes-roll-54-34-win-over-meigsThe undefeated Nelsonville-York Lady Buckeyes dominated the floor against the Meigs Lady Marauders, causing 17 turnovers en route to a 54-34 victory in Pomeroy on Monday night.
The Lady Marauders were able to keep the game close early on, with only a four-point deficit at the end of the first quarter. However, the Buckeyes would begin to take advantage of the Lady Marauders’ offensive sloppiness to take control of the game.
At halftime, the Buckeyes would triple their lead. With a score of 30-18, the Lady Marauders were beginning to let the game slip away.
The Nelsonville-York defensive pressure did not cease in the second half, allowing only four points in the third quarter.
The domination on the offensive boards and the consistency from beyond the arc is what put the Buckeyes in total control. Nelsonville-York would grab 18 offensive rebounds throughout the night and shot 5-of-8 from deep.
Junior Brook Andrus led the Lady Marauders with 12 points and 15 rebounds. She dominated the low post, shooting 3-of-5 from inside. She also tried showing off her range, shooting 2-of-7 from downtown. Her ability to knock down these outside looks in the future could help her become a huge playmaker for this young Meigs squad.
Junior captain Kelsey Hudson also registered 12 points and dished out three assists.
Senior Angela Meade led N-Y with 12 points, followed by fellow seniors Jennah Addis and Madison Davis, each with 10. Davis also grabbed 10 rebounds.
Meigs (1-3) travels to Wellston (1-3) Thursday, Dec. 12, to try and end their three-game losing streak.
Nelsonville-York (5-0) looks to continue their undefeated season against the struggling Trimble Tomcats (0-4) on Wednesday, Dec. 11.
