Those seeking shelter from the extreme cold temperatures can warm themselves at the Athens Community Center.

Rich Campitelli, Director of Athens Community Arts, Parks, and Recreation said the Center will be open for people to warm up as temperatures have dropped from unseasonable to brutally cold and windy.

Plans call for the warming station to open at 6 a.m. through Wednesday evening, closing at 9 p.m.

Campitelli said in a news release that weather advisories suggest you stay home and avoid outside exposure to these conditions.

Certain areas or activities may not be available for those seeking shelter.
