Athens area and state law enforcement have been working together to seek out threatening drivers.

The Athens County Sheriff Office in conjunction with the Ohio Department of Public Safety and Office of Criminal Justice Services will be continuing to conduct high visibility OVI/Speed /enforcement.

This increase in regulation will continue through Jan. 31 with deputies on the street, county roads, and highways.

They are aggressively seeking out impaired, aggressive, and criminal based drivers.

From Oct. to Dec. 2013, police issued 76 speed citations in 365 traffic stops.

Sheriff Patrick Kelly says he is continuing to work together with the community to make Athens County a safer, more enjoyable place to work, live, and play.
