The Federal Hocking Lancers came into the second half down by seven to the South Gallia Rebels and went on a 14-0 run to complete a huge comeback win, 50-34.

From the looks of it in the second quarter, the Rebels had the win all the way until they came into the second half and committed 10 turnovers, allowing the Lancers to go on that 14-0 run.

Fed Hock assistant coach Jeremy Tolson said the main thing that helped them get the win was coming into the second half and playing a lot more physical, as well as forcing several turnovers.

Federal Hocking was really hoping for a win after Southern broke its five-game winning streak on Tuesday and also hoping to move up in the TVC-Hocking standings. At the end of the game, the basketball gods were in their favor, as they improved to 6-5 in the Hocking.

Federal Hocking started off very slow, going 6-of-22 from the field and 3-of-10 from 3-point range in the first half. South Gallia went 6-of-12 from the field and 0-of-3 from 3-point range in the first half.

Senior Pete Crum and junior Ivan Santiago led Federal Hocking with a combined 31 points, five steals and two blocks on the day, while South Gallia’s Landon Hutchinson led his team with eight points and five rebounds.

Coming into this game, Federal Hocking was sixth in the TVC-Hocking while South Gallia was fourth. The win puts Federal Hocking above South Gallia to land the fifth spot in the Hocking.

The Lancers now look forward to playing Nelsonville-York on Saturday.
