Newark Man Gets 18 Months In Prison For Domestic Violence In Athens

Charles R. Gard, 27, of Newark, Ohio was sentenced Monday to spend the next 18 months in prison for domestic violence in Athens County.
Athens County Common Pleas Judge L. Alan Goldsberry sent Gard away for the maximum sentence for assaulting a “family or household member.”
This form of domestic violence is a felony because Gard had previously been convicted of domestic violence in 2007 in Muskingum County. This is his second offense for this crime.
