WV House Moves On Raw Milk Consumption Bill
< < Back toA bill allowing co-owners of cows to receive raw milk is approved by the West Virginia House Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources.
Delegate Nancy Guthrie asked if the bill would create tension between the Department of Agriculture and the Bureau for Public Health.
Ann Goldberg with Public Health said the sale of unpasteurized milk and herd-sharing is currently illegal under the Grade "A'' Pasteurized Milk Rule.
Guthrie asked Goldberg if she saw a time in the future when the bureau would approve of herd-sharing. Goldberg said there's no new evidence to show that raw milk is safe for public health.
The bill was approved Wednesday and has been referred to the House Committee Health and Human Resources.
