Marietta’s Jason Byers Named OAC Pitcher Of The Week

Marietta Pioneers starter Jason Byers was named the first Ohio Athletic Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week on Wednesday after pitching a complete shutout against Denison University last weekend.
The sophomore allowed only four hits and two walks while striking outs eight batters through nine innings in the Pioneers’ 5-0 win. Byers didn’t allow a base runner to reach third base. The shutout was the third of his career.
The Pioneers (2-0) travel to Port Charlotte, Fla., from March 8-15 to play eight varsity and two junior varsity games in the Florida heat. Marietta will open home competition at Don Schaly Stadium on March 19 when LaRoche College comes to town for a 2 p.m. doubleheader.
